Dutkowsky Family Donates $1 Million in Celebration of St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital’s 50th Birthday

St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation announced today that the Dutkowsky family of Tampa has given $1 million to support the construction of a new, fully renovated lobby at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, in celebration of the hospital’s 50th birthday.
The Dutkowsky Family Lobby, named in recognition of the family’s legacy of generosity and commitment to women’s health, was unveiled last night with a ribbon cutting and birthday celebration led by St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital President Sarah Naumowich. The revitalized five-story atrium lobby will serve as a warm welcome and comforting hub for countless women and families throughout Tampa Bay.
Lorraine and Bob Dutkowsky have been longtime supporters and friends of St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation. Lorraine has served as a member of the St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation Board for the past decade and has devoted much of her time as a loyal member of the Philanthropic Women of St. Joseph’s. Bob and Lorraine co-chaired the Foundation’s Heroes Ball in 2017, helping raise funds for a second pediatric ambulance at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
Bob passed away in May of this year, and his life was marked by an array of personal and professional achievements that touched many lives throughout the community. Once the CEO of Tech Data, Bob was a widely renowned, accomplished business leader, philanthropist, family man, mentor and friend, and was a true inspiration to all who had the distinct privilege of knowing him.
The Dutkowsky family gift has been made on behalf of Bob and Lorraine, who were married for more than 45 years; their children, Jennifer and Kevin; daughter-in-law, Julie; and grandchildren, Davis and Emma. Jennifer and Julie are also active members of the Philanthropic Women of St. Joseph’s.
“The goal of the new lobby is to create a life-giving space for the families who spend time at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, and specifically in the lobby – the heart of the hospital,” said Kate Sawa, president of St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation. “Thanks to the Dutkowsky family’s generosity, the newly redesigned lobby will serve as a place full of peace, compassion and comfort for the patients, families, and team members of St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital – from the moment they enter the hospital, to the moment they leave and all the moments in between.”
St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital first opened its doors in the fall of 1974, and the hospital quickly became a fixture in the Tampa Bay community – delivering hundreds of thousands of babies, providing trusted obstetric and gynecological care to thousands of women, and becoming a leader in breast and oncology services.
“As a nurse, and as part of a family that has been touched by the Women’s Hospital, I know what a meaningful difference this new lobby will make to all those who walk through its doors,” said Lorraine. “The lobby is truly the intersection of family, and our family is proud to be a part of that legacy.”
