Donations Fund Breast Imaging Technology
St. Joseph’s Hospital-North recently added state-of-the-art 3-D technology to its breast imaging services generously funded through St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation.
The Selenia® Dimensions 6000 imaging system produces 3D high-resolution images faster, allowing increased comfort to our patients of the Shimberg Breast Center. As an improvement from 2D technology, the 3D gives a more precise, clear, accurate, and sharper image, removing the need for additional imaging. If necessary, the Selenia can perform biopsies with an upright attachment without moving the patient to a separate room.
“It gives you a consistent visual comparison,” said Chris Blanchard, imaging manager at St. Joseph’s Hospital-North.
“This [donation provides] a great opportunity for patients to have this technology available to them,” said Chris Blanchard, imaging manager at St. Joseph’s Hospital-North. “If you’re 40 and over, you can just come in and get it done.”
